Beware of Lumber Liquidators!!!

Please read my other posts in this blog. If you are considering purchasing any flooring from Lumber Liquidators, please do yourself a favor and do your research!! Do a google search for lumber liquidator complaints and you'll be shocked to see the amount of complaints on this Company! I own a busy company and feel like I have no free time, yet I have taken hours and hours of the little time I do have to create this blog, purchase domain names, take dozens of photographs, write several posts on this topic and continue to try to reach out to other potential future victims of their claims process. See some of my other posts in my blogs to see the pictures and learn more about what has occurred here.

In sum, we purchased hardwood from Lumber Liquidators a month ago. The wood turned out to be defective, but their installers kept installing the defective wood any way. They didn't even point it out to us; rather, we had to point it out to them, at which time they immediately agreed it was terrible and needed to be replaced. The boards were different heights, creating uneven surfaces all over. This delayed our project, but we were patient. They delivered different wood, and that wood had the same defects, conceded by their crew. More delays. Days later, they brought another crew because the crew blamed it on the wood and the store blamed it on the crew, even though they work together on these projects. The new crew also conceded both deliveries of the wood were defective. More delays now. We tried to work things out with the store, but they pointed out to us their very unfavorable and unfair and contract terms in the Agreement they have their customers sign. They said we'd have to go through their corporate department for resolution.

We had to make arrangements for their corporate office, located in Virginia, to receive a sample of the product. More delays to our project. It is important to note that during this entire process our house remains a mess, there are unfinished rooms and hallways in the house, uneven flooring, loose boards, their trash they left everywher, empty boxes and other debris all over the place, and it is extremely difficult even to walk in the house. (See the pictures in my other posts - if you choose to use this Company, your house could possibly look the same!!). After almost another week, corporate finally also admitted the wood was defective. But that doesn't resolve the problem yet, because once that is established the file gets transferred to another department! More delays! Eventually, days later, we speak with someone in the claims department, who offers to give us our money back we spent on only some of the wood - but with a huge catch! They aren't giving us our money back we spent on installation, they are only giving us money back on some of the wood but not all of it and, best of all, they will not pay for someone to come and tear out the defective wood that has been nailed to our floors! So we would still end up losing over half of the money we spent, and we'd still have to pay thousands of dollars to have the defective wood torn out!

We let this individual know that was an unfair resolution. We attempted to work something out that would be more fair, and then they sent us a Release Agreement to sign that had different terms in it than what we had spoken about on the phone! More delays. We went back and forth with them, but ultimately when we didn't want to give in to their unfair terms they stopped talking to us and transferred our file to their legal department! Since that happened days ago, nobody is returning our calls or emails, nobody is willing to provide us any contact information for anyone in the legal department and we are still left sitting here in our messy and extremely unsafe house waiting for something to happen! It has been almost a month now since we received the defective wood.

If you have children, pets, elderly or disabled individuals living in your household listen carefully to our story...can you imagine having your house looking like ours for almost a month? What started as a fun idea to improve our house has turned into a nightmare, with our house completely trashed!

I will continue to write about our experience with Lumber Liquidators as this process continues so everyone is filled in. I wish we would have contacted another company and never contacted Lumber Liquidators!
